I am made of mercerized cotton. Mercerizing is a finishing process for cotton that not only gives me a silky, wash-resistant sheen, but also makes me stronger. In addition, mercerized cotton is more colourfast and hardly fluffs. I only wear the polyamide in the form of Lycra® in the toe and sole area for reinforcement.

Why is it called Fil d'Ecosse? It's quite simple: the Scotsman John Mercer invented the process and mercerized cotton is also called Fil d'Ecosse.
