Made in Italy
I am a European, or more specifically an Italian sock. My exact origins are kept under wraps, but I am allowed to tell you that just outside Milan in northern Italy there is a family business in its second generation of making exceptional socks like me.
As a proud Italian sock I not only look fantastic, I am also made with great attention to detail from top-quality mercerised cotton using state-of-the art machinery.
I am made from mercerised cotton, also known as Fil d’Ecosse. I know that the inventor of the process was Scottish rather than Italian - but he did not skimp in his efforts. During mercerisation, we are bathed in sodium hydroxide as a relatively thick cotton yarn and we lose a lot of our mass as a result. However, this refinement process makes me elegant: the yarn becomes more resistant to washing, fluffs less and develops a silky lustre.
To make me even stronger I am strengthened with Lycra (polyamide) in the toe, heel and sole areas, ensuring that I stay in shape for a long time.
I want to be elegant to make sure that you look good. My smooth surface gives me a light, elegant appearance. Together we look unbeatable! We are ready for the next meeting or date, but I will leave that bit to you.
The main thing is that you can count on me.
100% skin-friendly & allergy-tested
I am good for you, your feet and your skin: I have been tested and I meet the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100.
This standard says that I am 100% skin-friendly and allergy-tested. This is important, since we often forget that socks are worn directly against the skin in a damp and warm climate subjected to friction.
Perhaps you like something more classic. Does grey-blue make you think of the not entirely elegant pigeons which flock to cities? No problem: I am also available in utterly classic colours such as black, anthracite, navy blue and brown. I won’t take it personally.
Perhaps I am too pale for you and you would rather some stylish patterned socks. In that case, I recommend our striped designs. It is important to note that these are neither the garish stripy socks you used to get nor comparable to those of Pippi Longstocking: instead, my striped sock siblings have delicately coordinated stripes and are distinguished, never brash.
Socks as a subscription
If you have better things to do than buying socks, then you can have me as a sockscription. You will find me in your letterbox at regular intervals without having to do anything whatsoever – so we will be regularly back together again, without you having to waste your valuable time on me.
Warm not hot
I want us to spend as many pleasant hours together as possible: that’s the reason I was made and knitted. But you can also help to ensure that the path we tread together is as long as possible. Do not wash me at too high a heat – 40 degrees is enough – and do not put me in the tumble dryer, and I will reward you by looking better for longer with an increased lifespan. It does not matter at all if you give me the hot version now and then, but I absolutely do not need it.
