Blacksocks knows the age of all socks
Are they free of holes but no longer completely black? The high quality of our socks means that the colour will fade long before any holes appear.
Customer feedback, independent tests and years of experience have all demonstrated that the quality of our socks is held in high regard and rarely gives cause for complaint.
To enable us to monitor our production series, our socks all have a systematic "stitching flaw" in the heel area. This is a kind of barcode consisting of a combination of seven stitch lines that are either short or long.
How to determine the age of your socks
Simply have a look at the area just above the smooth heel section. It is easiest to start from the central stitch line above the centre of the heel and count the three lines on either side of this line. The combination of seven lines provides information on the production year of your socks.
Identification of defective socks
In 2005, we produced a series of 12,000 defective pairs of socks. Unfortunately, we delivered half of them to our customers. Thanks to the bar codes, we were able to identify and replace the defective socks sent back to us. The other half of the series was disposed of.
