Made in Italy
I come from a small sock manufacturer in northeast Milan, which makes me Italian.
They create high-quality socks such as me with a great passion for detail. Three siblings are running the business in the second generation ensuring that lots of socks turn out as good as me.
Shining and refined – Fil d’Ecosse
Shining and refined – Fil d’Ecosse I am made from mercerised cotton. Mercerisation is a finishing process for cotton which gives me a silky, wash-resistant shine and also makes me stronger. Mercerised cotton is also more colourfast and creates very little lint. Polyamide in the form of Lycra® is found in my toe and sole areas to provide additional strengthening.
So why is this also known as Fil d’Ecosse? It’s very simple: the Scot John Mercer invented the process, which is why mercerised cotton is also called Fil d’Ecosse. Scottish roots and a French name – rather difficult for me as an Italian!
Totally smooth and unribbed
I owe my beauty not just to my high-quality materials, but also to my workmanship. My smooth surface makes me light and elegant, ensuring that I am an excellent companion for important meetings or your next wedding party. With me, you can dance the night away.
Due to my lack of ribbing I look great, even stunning, in any shoe.
100% skin-friendly & allergy-tested
I am good for you, your feet and your skin: I have been tested and I meet the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100.
This standard says that I am 100% skin-friendly and allergy-tested. We often forget that socks are worn directly against the skin, in a damp and warm climate subjected to friction.
In November 1998, the future founders of BLACKSOCKS were seeking the perfect socks. My Italian manufacturer fielded me as a candidate. The selection process was not easy, but I won. Since then, our careers have been intertwined. As in any career, I am continuing to develop, but at heart I have remained the same: an honest sock for every day.
Also in colour
In these classic styles, I will go amazingly well with any of your suits. Just remember that I should be a little darker than the colour of your suit.
